Shmyhal sees development of hydrogen energy as important area in talks with EU
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this during a question-and-answer session in the Verkhovna Rada on Friday, January 28, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"We are focused on the development of hydrogen technologies, on the creation of a hydrogen ecosystem. This is one of the most important areas in our negotiations with the European Union," he said.
According to him, this will not only promote the "green transition," but also provide investment in the transformation of Ukraine's energy system.
Shmyhal also recalled that pilot projects for the transformation of coal regions in Chervonohrad and Myrnohrad will be launched this year. He stressed that the country's coal industry could not remain "in such a deplorable state as it has been for decades."
Earlier reports said that the EU was interested in expanding cooperation with Ukraine in the production and transportation of hydrogen, as well as Ukraine's integration into the EU hydrogen market.
