The International Monetary Fund is monitoring the situation in Ukraine and is planning to send the next review mission under the Stand-By Arrangement for Ukraine in the first quarter of 2022.

Gerry Rice, Director of the IMF's Communications Department and IMF Spokesman, said this at a briefing in Washington on Thursday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

“The Board had approved, in November, the schedule for the remaining two disbursements under the program with Ukraine,” Rice reminded.

He noted that according to that schedule, the second review mission is expected to take place in the first quarter of this year under the condition of “sufficient progress has been made to meet the objectives under the program.”

“So, discussions continue,” he said.

Rice also added that once the next review mission is scheduled, the IMF Representative Office in Kyiv would announce its start.

“We are monitoring developments very closely in Ukraine and hoping that tensions will ease,” he assured.

As Ukrinform reported, on June 9, 2020, the IMF approved an 18-month Stand-By Arrangement for Ukraine, with total access of about $5 billion. The first tranche of $2.1 billion was provided immediately. In November 2021, Ukraine received the second tranche in the amount of SDR 500 million (equivalent to $699 million).
