Verkhovna Rada ratifies Ukraine-EU agreement on common aviation area
According to an Ukrinform correspondent, 311 MPs voted in favor of relevant draft law No.0144 on February 17.
The purpose of the document is to implement the internal procedures required for the entry into force of the Agreement on the Common Aviation Area between Ukraine, on the one part, and the European Union and its Member States, on the other part.
"It is expected that this agreement will increase competition on the air transport market, reduce ticket prices and improve the quality of passenger services," Chairwoman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the EU, Ivanna Klympush-Tsyntsadze said.
As Ukrinform reported, on October 12, 2021 Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, Vice President of the European Commission - High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell and Ambassador of the Presidency of the Council of the Republic of Slovenia to Ukraine Tomaz Mencin signed a Common Aviation Area agreement between Ukraine, the European Union and its Member States.
According to the provisions of the Agreement, the parties will establish a Common Aviation Area between Ukraine and the EU on the basis of equal rules of aviation safety, air traffic management, social rights of workers, electronic reservation systems, environmental protection and consumer protection.
