The United Kingdom steps up funding for projects in support of Ukraine and its energy independence up to GBP 100 million.

“When the Prime Minister visited Kyiv earlier this month, he announced the allocation of GBP 88 million to support Ukrainian democracy and energy independence. Today, I can announce the next component of our support: we step up funding for these projects up to GBP 100 million,” Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom Liz Truss said at a joint press conference with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Truss also stressed that she was impressed by Kyiv's resilience in the face of Russian aggression and that London was proud to be at the forefront of support for Ukraine: "We, the United Kingdom, are very proud to be at the forefront of support for Ukraine."

As reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Boris Johnson issued a joint statement after the meeting in Kyiv on February 1.

Johnson then announced a GBP 88 million financial assistance package to support Ukraine's efforts to build resilience and reduce its dependence on Russian energy supplies.
