Dzheppar, ICAO leadership discuss security situation in Ukraine
It is noted that at a meeting with ICAO President Salvatore Sciacchitano and ICAO Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar, Dzheppar informed them about the current security situation in Ukraine, the efforts of Ukrainian authorities and the world community to deter Russian aggression.
Dzheppar assured ICAO representatives that the situation on Ukraine's borders and in the airspace is under control. She stressed that hybrid methods of war, which Russia has been waging against Ukraine for the eighth year in a row, include, among other things, disinformation, weakening of the Ukrainian economy and cyber attacks.
She noted that these information attacks affect also participants in the market of aviation insurance and leasing. This, in turn, threatens Ukraine's stable air services with other countries.
The President and the Secretary General of ICAO praised the actions taken by the Ukrainian government and stressed the importance of further close cooperation with international aviation authorities. They expressed the belief that the decisions of ICAO and other aviation authorities should be based on official sources, in accordance with established practices and mechanisms.
In addition, Dzheppar condemned the Kremlin's aggressive intentions to legitimize the attempt to annex Crimea in the airspace and thanked ICAO for its firm stance on non-recognition of Russian publications of aeronautical information about temporarily occupied Crimea.
As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on February 13 approved the allocation of UAH 16.6 billion to guarantee the safety of flights in Ukraine's airspace. The funds will be used to ensure flight safety in Ukraine for insurance and leasing companies.
