World Bank says Ukraine sustained physical damage worth $60B so far
That’s according to World Bank President David Malpass, Reuters reports.
Malpass told a World Bank conference on Ukraine's financial assistance needs that the early estimate of "narrow" damage costs does not include the growing economic costs of the war to Ukraine.
"Of course the war is still ongoing, so those costs are rising," Malpass said.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, according to preliminary estimates, a full-scale Russian invasion has already inflicted on Ukraine losses worth nearly $550 billion, therefore the country needs almost $7 billion in monthly support, President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video address to the World Bank roundtable in support of Ukraine.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that in the long run, the reconstruction and restoration of Ukraine will cost at least $600 billion.
