Shmyhal: Ukraine needs $5B a month. IMF already created special account
"We reveal a figure confirmed by the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank – $ 5 billion a month. These are the funds that the budget of Ukraine needs in order to fulfill all social and humanitarian obligations to the people of our country who suffer from the war," Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said during the nationwide telethon, Ukrinform reports.
As noted, the IMF has already created a special account through which international partners will provide financial support to Ukraine to meet the balance of payments, budget needs, and stabilize the economy.
"We agreed that the International Monetary Fund, like many other organizations and donors, will support Ukraine financially. We are facing unprecedented challenges today, and the world understands that," the Head of Government said.
As reported, the International Monetary Fund stated that it supported Ukraine's strategy of speedy economic recovery, especially in regions where there are no active military operations, and was ready to look for ways to provide financial assistance.
On February 24, Russian president Putin announced the beginning of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops shell and destroy key infrastructure facilities, residential areas of Ukrainian cities, towns, and villages using artillery, MLRS, and ballistic missiles.
