Ukraine increases agricultural exports by 30% in June - UCAB
Ukrinform reports this with reference to the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club Association (UCAB).
"In June, Ukraine managed to export 2.7 million tonnes of agricultural products through alternative routes due to the blockade of Ukrainian seaports by Russian troops. This is 30% more than in May," the report says.
In particular, the export of grain crops grew by 23% to 1.4 million tonnes, oil crops - by 52% to 642.5 thousand tonnes. In addition, 298.5 thousand tonnes of vegetable oils (an increase of 45%) and 139.1 thousand tonnes of oil cake (an increase of 20%) were exported in June.
"Prior to the war, the main importers of Ukrainian products were China, India, the Netherlands and Egypt. Now the main buyers of agricultural products are European countries located close to Ukraine: Romania, Poland, Bulgaria, as well as Turkey," UCAB noted.
The association added that despite the growth of exports by alternative routes, their rates still remain low compared to exports by sea. UCAB emphasizes that without establishing the export of all produced products, farmers will not have enough funds both for harvesting already sown crops and for the next sowing campaign.
