OECD sets up coordination office for Ukraine recovery

"In order to strengthen and expand our policy to support Ukraine, we set up a coordination office at the OECD, which first started in Paris, but which we intend to move to Kyiv as soon as possible," OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann said on the sidelines of the international Ukraine Recovery Conference in Lugano, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to him, the OECD's approach is based on three main principles: leadership of Ukraine in the recovery process, cooperation and coordination of all international partners based on best practices, assessments and standards, exchange of experience and financial management.

"It is clear that there will be a huge need for investment in infrastructure, a huge need for finances, managing them according to a coordinated action plan," Cormann said.

In his opinion, the decentralization reform should be continued during the restoration of Ukraine as it will ensure the effective involvement of regions, cities, and communities in the process.

Another goal of the recovery process, according to him, is macroeconomic stabilization, as well as the recovery of cities based on "green reconstruction", rebuilding the economy in accordance with environmental standards, which will also increase Ukraine's competitiveness.

As reported, the international Ukraine Recovery Conference is held in the Swiss city of Lugano on July 4-5 with the participation of Ukrainian and international politicians, leaders of the EU and international organizations, international financial institutions, etc.
