The agreement on unblocking ports does not restrict Ukraine in terms of exports by sea, and they may fully resume if Russia adheres to the agreement terms.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Minister Dmytro Kuleba during a nationwide telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“As for the extension of the agreement to new goods, let’s remember this agreement is, in fact, about establishing a safe logistics corridor and, generally, no one restricts Ukraine in terms of exports,” Kuleba told.

In his words, the question at issue is not what goods will be exported: agricultural products, metal or toys. The question is whether Russia will not bombard ports and ships.

“If Russia adheres to these requirements, generally, Ukrainian ports may resume operation at full capacity, and exports by sea may fully restore,” Kuleba noted.

According to Kuleba, the agreement is now working, and the United Nations and Turkey are playing an important role in ensuring that Russia fulfills its obligations.

A reminder that, on July 22, 2022, Ukraine, Turkey and the United Nations signed the Initiative for the Safe Transportation of Grain and Food Products from Ukraine’s Odesa Port, Chornomorsk Port and Pivdennyi Port.
