Bulk carrier with grain for Africa leaves Pivdennyi port
The press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure reported on Facebook.
"The ship BRAVE COMMANDER with grain for Africa has left the Pivdennyi port. The bulk carrier has departed for the Djibouti port, upon arrival to which the food will be delivered to consumers in Ethiopia," the report reads.
It is noted that the vessel carries 23,000 tonnes of wheat chartered by the United Nations World Food Program.
As part of the initiative on the safe transportation of grain and agricultural products, 17 vessels have already left Ukrainian ports, exporting more than 475,000 tonnes of Ukrainian agricultural products.
The ships transporting grain from Ukraine through the Black Sea for export are protected by a special buffer zone of 10 nautical miles (about 18.5 km).
On July 22, in Istanbul, at the proposal of the United Nations, Ukraine, Turkey, and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres signed the initiative on the safe transportation of grain and food products from Ukraine’s ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk and Pivdennyi.
