Germany sees as groundless full halt to gas transit via Nord Stream
This is reported by Ukrinform with reference to the Ministry of Economy of the Federal Republic of Germany.
"We took Gazprom’s statement into account. We do not comment on the issue, but over the past few weeks we have already become convinced of Russia's unreliability, and continued our measures to strengthen independence from Russian energy imports," the spokeswoman for the Federal Ministry of Economy told reporters, adding that now the country is much better prepared in this regard than a few months ago.
Germany’s Siemens Energy questioned the reasons provided by the Russian supplier for the pipe shutdown, namely the oil leak at the Portovaya compressor station.
"As a turbine manufacturer, we can only state that such leaks are not a technical reason for a shutdown," the statement said, according to media reports.
It is emphasized that such leaks do not affect the operation of the turbine and can be sealed on the spot, which is quite a routine procedure. The company added that the station also has enough additional turbines to ensure normal operation of the pipeline. Siemens specialists are currently not involved in repair work.
As reported, Gazprom announced a technical stoppage of gas pumping for three days, which was due to end on Saturday. In recent months, Russia has been constantly blackmailing Europe with the intention of forcing European energy buyers to stop supporting Ukraine, lift sanctions, and allow launching the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz earlier announced t that the first German LNG terminal would start receiving liquefied gas as early as January next year. He expressed confidence that Germany would be able to get through the winter safely due to all the measures that had been taken.
