PM Shmyhal: Peacekeeping mission under aegis of EU and UN needs to be sent to ZNPP
The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a briefing in Berlin, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“I have briefed the German colleagues on the situation in Ukraine at the front line, on the situation at Zaporizhzhia NPP. Of course, we expect that the IAEA mission that visited the plant will have effect. We have talked about the need to organize the next mission: a peacekeeping mission under the aegis of the EU and the UN, which will ensure a complete demilitarization of Zaporizhzhia NPP and establish a 30-kilometer demilitarized zone around the plant,” Shmyhal told, following his meeting with German political figures.
In addition, Ukraine got the opportunity to export 400 megawatts of electricity towards Europe compared to 250 megawatts exported before.
According to Shmyhal, if Zaporizhzhia NPP is safe and fully operated, Ukraine will have potential to assist European partners. However, in case of safety or other risks, the state will work primarily to meet the domestic demand for energy resources.
A reminder that Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal is paying a working visit to Germany.
