Ukraine expects to receive EUR 5B in macro-financial assistance from EU this week
The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a briefing in Berlin, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“We have received [EUR] 1 billion in grant funds from Germany, and we are very grateful for this. We have received [EUR] 1 billion in macro-financial assistance from the EU. Additionally, this week we expect to receive EUR 5 billion in macro-financial assistance from the EU, which were unblocked after our conversations with the German Finance Minister, with Mr. Chancellor [Olaf Scholz]. Hence, we expect to receive this significant sum in assistance to Ukraine in the near future. Also, now we have continued discussion on how Ukraine will receive another EUR 3 billion in macro-financial assistance,” Shmyhal told, following his meeting with German government officials and the Bundestag members.
According to Shmyhal, during his meetings with German partners, the issue of providing macro-financial assistance to Ukraine next year was also raised, and Germany is expected to play a leading role in this.
