Third vessel set to carry Ukrainian grain to Africa arrives at Chornomorsk port
That’s according to the Ministry of Infrastructure, Ukrinform reports.
"We realize Ukraine's global food responsibility to the world, especially to those countries in Africa and Asia that are faced with humanitarian disaster. For us, the fastest and most efficient process of receiving, loading, and sending these ships is an undisputed priority," said Infrastructure Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov.
According to the officials, two vessels chartered by the World Food Programme have already been dispatched since the start of the Initiative, carrying more than 60,000 tonnes of Ukrainian wheat for the residents of Yemen and Ethiopia.
Kubrakov added that partners would additionally purchase another 190,000 tonnes of grain for further export to countries suffering from food shortages.
As reported, in accordance with the agreement signed on July 22 by Ukraine, Turkey, Russia, and the UN, three Ukrainian ports were unblocked for the transportation of grain intended for export.
Since the departure of the first ship carrying Ukrainian food under the said initiative, 2.78 million tonnes of agricultural products have been exported. In total, 122 ships left Ukrainian ports, loaded with agricultural products, destined for Asia, Europe, and Africa.
