Grain corridor: 130 ships with almost 3M tonnes of grain have already left Ukrainian ports

Since the agreement between Ukraine, Turkey, Russia, and the UN on the transportation of grain from Ukraine entered into force, 129 ships loaded with 2.9 million tonnes of grain have left the Ukrainian ports.

The mark of 3 million tonnes will be reached in the near future, Amir Abdulla, United Nations Coordinator for the Black Sea Grain Initiative, told journalists on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports from New York.

Abdulla emphasized that the transportation of grain had been carried out "without serious incidents."

The grain agreement was designed for 120 days and its term ends soon, but Turkey, supported by the UN, is determined to extend it, he noted.

The UN coordinator pointed out that only Ukrainian grain was transported through the Black Sea corridor from three ports of Ukraine. It was never declared as Russian, so grain stolen by Russia could not be among these shipments.

As reported, Ukraine, Turkey, Russia, and UN Secretary-General António Guterres signed the initiative on safe transportation of grain and foodstuffs from the ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk, and Pivdenny at the suggestion of the United Nations in Istanbul on July 22.

On September 13, seven ships with grain departed from these ports.
