Ukraine to receive EUR 5B in EU aid in mid-October - von der Leyen
This was stated by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who spoke with journalists in Kyiv alongside President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"We have been discussing of course the budget support, the so-called macro-financial assistance. I am very glad that today the European Parliament now has voted positively on the 5 billion loans. And we are working on the rest of macro-financial assistance. The 5 billion can be disbursed in the first tranche mid-October. So there is a clear path that we have discussed together," said the European Commission President.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, on September 15, the European Parliament supported the European Commission's decision of September 7 to launch a new large-scale EU macro-financial assistance program for Ukraine, which is eighth in a row, in the amount of EUR 5 billion. The aid will be aimed at financing the state budget’s priority needs, contributing to sustaining Ukraine's financial stability.
