UN Economic Commission for Europe to help Ukraine in post-war recovery
This was announced by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, Ruslan Strilets, Ukrinform reports with reference to the ministry press service.
"Today, at the UN conference Environment for Europe, the ministers signed a declaration. This is a road sign in the environmental field of Europe for the next five years. Not only did the participating states condemn Russian aggression, they also assured Ukraine of further support," the statement reads.
It is noted that the declaration, among other things, officially fixates condemnation of Russian crimes toward the Ukrainian environment, as well as the Belarus complicity to this end.
The declaration also refers to assistance to Ukraine in assessing environmental damage and further support for post-war reconstruction based on sustainable development.
As reported earlier, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, Ruslan Strelets, emphasized that Ukraine has already fulfilled 61% of the requirements for joining the EU, set out in the field of environment, and, despite all hardships, continues to move along the Green Deal path.
