Deputy Head of the President’s Office, Kyrylo Tymoshenko, has called on Ukrainians to limit power consumption as much as possible from 7:00 to 23:00 on Thursday, October 20.

Tymoshenko addressed citizens on the air of the national telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We have just held a meeting with the Ministry of Energy and all chiefs of military administrations... I am addressing the entire population of Ukraine, tomorrow is a very difficult day, in connection with today, yesterday, and the day before yesterday’s strikes on our energy facilities. Therefore, tomorrow it is necessary to - and we strongly request this – minimize power consumption from 7:00 to 23:00, which applies to every region," he said.

Tymoshenko added that restrictions on the use of electricity will be introduced across the entire territory of Ukraine on Thursday. Blackouts will not be simultaneous and are to be applied primarily to enterprises and factories.

"Still, we understand that if we have no sufficient power volumes in Ukraine in general, there will be rolling blackouts throughout the territory, which will also affect the population... Tomorrow, the use of electricity will be minimized in street lighting," added the deputy head of the President’s Office.

According to him, if the population unites, it will help pass tomorrow without blackouts.

As reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky held a strategic meeting on security at energy generation facilities.

Since October 10, Russia has been massively shelling Ukraine’s civilian energy infrastructure, employing cruise missiles and kamikaze drones.
