Currently, there are about 14.2 billion cubic meters of gas in the Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities which is absolutely enough to get through this winter.

"The heating season has begun in Ukraine despite the shelling. Heat is already supplied in most cities. We currently have about 14.2 billion cubic meters of gas in our gas storage facilities which is absolutely enough to sustainably get through this winter," Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal posted on Facebook.

He noted that the Russian troops had been striking Ukraine's energy facilities for the second week but were still unable to break the energy system.

"Energy workers work 24/7. Temporary power outages are possible in some regions to speed up repair works. We should continue saving electricity," Shmyhal added.

As reported, Oleksiy Chernyshov, Minister of Communities and Territories Development, told journalists that 18 regions were fully ready for the start of the heating season.

Russia damaged more than 400 facilities in 16 regions of Ukraine, including dozens of energy facilities, with missile and kamikaze drone attacks from October 10 to 20.
