Poland wants to help Ukraine restore airports, expand railway links
This was discussed during a conversation between Poland's Deputy Minister for Development Funds and Regional Policy Marcin Horała and Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland Vasyl Zvarych, Ukrinform reports with reference to the Ministry of Development Funds and Regional Policy of the Republic of Poland.
"We see a lot of opportunities to support our friends from Ukraine in the post-war reconstruction of Ukrainian airports," Horała said.
He noted that the Polish side maintained constant contact with representatives of the Association “Airports of Ukraine” and directly with the airports. Warsaw can offer Kyiv expert consulting services on implementing investment related to airports and planning their further development.
The parties also discussed deepening cooperation in the implementation of the high-speed railway project between the two countries and the related revision of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).
In this context, the deputy minister noted that, in addition to the Warsaw-Kyiv railway link through Yahodyn, the Polish side wanted to propose a new route that would connect many Polish and Ukrainian cities. According to him, the Polish company "Central Communication Port" plans to build a railway link Lublin – Zamość – Bełżec to the border.
"Such a route from the Ukrainian side of the border can be extended through Rava-Ruska to Lviv and Kyiv. And in the future, from the Carpathians to Black Sea ports in Ukraine and Romania," the Polish government official emphasized.
