Budget envisages UAH 12.7B for natural gas purchase for winter - Shmyhal

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this at a government meeting on October 28, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“As to the heating season, UAH 12.7 billion is envisaged in the budget program for the purchase of gas for this winter. Today we will approve that the company Naftogaz Trading will purchase gas within this budget program," Shmyhal said.

He noted that more than 14 billion cubic meters of natural gas, which have already been pumped into storage facilities, would be enough for a stable heating season under normal conditions.

"Unfortunately, there will unusual conditions this winter. Therefore it is necessary to have additional resources and reserves," Shmyhal stressed.

As reported, Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, Oleksiy Chernyshov, said that Ukraine would be able to accumulate 15 billion cubic meters of natural gas by mid-November, which should be enough for the autumn-winter period.
