Belgium transfers almost €5M to IMF’s account for Ukraine
“Merci/Bedankt Belgium for your €4.96 million grant contribution to the IMF's Administered Account for Ukraine. It’s great to see the international community continuing to come together to help stabilize the Ukrainian economy,” IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva posted on Twitter.
Earlier, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced the intention of the European Commission to present a program of emergency macro-financial assistance for Ukraine of EUR 1.5 billion per month, totaling EUR 18 billion in 2023. This assistance should be stable and predictable and partially meet the needs for ensuring Ukraine’s stability.
EU’s macro-financial assistance will be accompanied by assistance from other countries and international financial institutions. According to a preliminary assessment, Ukraine will need from 3 to 5 billion euros every month next year to perform basic social functions.
