Erdogan: Delivery of 11M tonnes of foodstuffs shows significance of grain deal
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan wrote this on Twitter, Ukrinform reports.
“With the delivery of more than 11 million tonnes of grains and foodstuffs to those in need via approximately 500 ships over the past four months, the significance and benefits of this agreement for the food supply and security of the world have become evident,” he wrote.
Erdogan noted that in accordance with the resolution reached by Turkey, the UN, Ukraine, and Russia, the Black Sea Grain Initiative was extended for an additional 120 days beginning November 19, 2022.
The Turkish president thanked UN Secretary-General António Guterres, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Russian Vladimir Putin, “for their willingness to prolong the agreement.”
As reported by Ukrinform, at a meeting in Istanbul on November 17, Ukraine, the United Nations and Turkey agreed to extend the Black Sea Grain Initiative for a further 120 days.
