Ukraine counts on macro-financial assistance from the UK in 2023

The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Finance Ministry, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

The parties discussed the current financial situation in Ukraine and the need for additional financing, as well as the priority areas of cooperation to strengthen partnership between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the United Kingdom.

“The Minister of Finance of Ukraine stressed the need for additional financing of the state budget next year. The deficit is projected at USD 3 billion per month. Ukraine counts on macro-financial assistance from partner countries, in particular the United Kingdom, and international financial organizations,” the report states.

Additionally, the parties discussed other steps taken by the Government of Ukraine to increase revenues and reduce the State Budget deficit, such as the issuance of war bonds, reduction in non-priority expenditures and their further allocation to critical needs, maximization of State Budget revenues.

Marchenko thanked the Government of the United Kingdom for the long-term fruitful partnership and active position in condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Hunt assured the Ukrainian side of their unwavering support for Ukraine.

A reminder that the United Kingdom is one of the largest donor countries of financial assistance to Ukraine. Since the Russian invasion started, Ukraine has received about USD 1 billion in budget support from the United Kingdom.
