Shmyhal outlines five Ukraine’s reconstruction priorities
Shmyhal opened the Forum together with Prime Minister of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel, participating via video conferencing.
The PM of Ukraine posted on Telegram that he expects the event to give an additional impetus to the fulfillment of Ukraine’s tasks and outlined five rapid reconstruction priorities.
"Energy. We plan to decentralize the power grid. This will make it less vulnerable and guarantee the electricity in the homes of Ukrainians and enterprises," Shmyhal wrote.
Another priority is housing as the restoration of houses will be a prerequisite for the return of thousands of Ukrainians to their homes.
Humanitarian demining is also among the priorities as more than 30% of the territory of Ukraine is contaminated with Russian shells. Works are already underway, but additional resources are needed.
"Critical and social infrastructure. These are roads, bridges, utility facilities, water, heat and gas supply networks, schools, and hospitals," Shmyhal added.
The Head of the Government named the assistance to the private sector as the fifth priority.
Shmyhal also thanked the Government of Luxembourg for the consistent and unwavering support and emphasized that Ukraine appreciates such solidarity and believes in the effectiveness of joint efforts.
As reported, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said during the World Economic Forum in Davos that Ukraine's post-war reconstruction program will be the largest reconstruction project since World War II.
