Japan allocates $170M to restore Ukraine's infrastructure
"The undoubted priority at this stage of reconstruction is the restoration of critical infrastructure crucial to meet the basic needs of citizens. This is a necessary step for returning Ukrainians to their homes and supporting economic development in the regions," Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine – Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development Oleksandr Kubrakov said, the Ministry's press service informs.
Kubrakov specified that the Japanese partners would provide goods and services necessary for the restoration. The decision on support will be finalized by concluding a grant agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
As reported, at the beginning of January, the Government of Japan announced the allocation of $95 million for the reconstruction of Ukraine. These funds will be transferred to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) within the framework of a partnership agreement.
