Zelensky advocates continued trade liberalization with EU

The practice of liberalizing Ukraine's trade with the European Union has shown its effectiveness and should be continued.

This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky during a joint briefing with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent.

"The effectiveness of trade liberalization between Ukraine and the EU was confirmed today at the negotiations with the President, so the practice of full liberalization should be continued," he said.

The Ukrainian Head of State and Head of the European Commission also discussed ensuring financial and social stability of Ukraine.

According to Zelensky, European support is "critical, important, and priority for our state."

He also noted that the talks discussed the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine from the consequences of Russian aggression, and that he expects more specifics from international partners in this regard.

In addition, Zelensky and von der Leyen discussed increasing technical capabilities for importing electricity to Ukraine from the EU.

In her turn, the President of the European Commission said that the European Commission wants to help Ukraine mobilize its full economic potential and therefore came with a number of proposals for Ukraine's seamless integration into the EU internal market.

In addition, she noted that the delegation of the European Commission will discuss with the Ukrainian side how to make Russia pay for the huge amount of damage and suffering they caused.

On February 3, the 24th EU-Ukraine summit will be held in Kyiv.
