Emergency power outages in Ukraine following Russia’s latest strikes
That’s according to NEC Ukrenergo, the state-run operator of Ukraine’s power system, Ukrinform reports.
"Russia's main target was once again power plants and high-voltage network facilities. The geography of the strikes covers the eastern, western, and southern regions of Ukraine. The most difficult situation is currently in Kharkiv region. At the moment, emergency shutdowns are in place. Network restrictions due to the attack are in effect in Khmelnytskyi region, as well as in Odesa and Kyiv regions," the statement reads.
It is noted that, while the capacity shortage in the power system is seen as significant, Ukrenergo’s repair crews have scrambled to tackle the consequences of the strike. In unaffected regions, consumption caps have been put back into effect.
"The previously published schedule of the actual consumption evaluation has now been cancelled. The new schedule of the evaluation and the relevant lifting of caps is yet to be announced," the company added.
As reported, Ukraine’s power system overnight Friday and throughout the day suffered the 14th massive missile strike and the 16th kamikaze drone attack.
