PM Shmyhal: Government expects to implement tax reform after war
The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal in an interview with Forbes Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“As long as the active phase of the war is underway, there will be no tax changes, at least revolutionary ones. However, we are holding talks with the IMF to start working jointly on the future tax reform that will contribute to the improvement in the investment and business climate after the war. Its concept will be added to Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction plan,” Shmyhal told.
In his words, currently all the tax payments transferred by businesses to the state budget are used to finance Ukraine’s security and defense forces.
“In January 2023, businesses and individuals transferred a little more than UAH 60 billion to the [state] budget, while we spent UAH 100 billion on our security and army,” Shmyhal noted.
A reminder that Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine for Economic Affairs Rostyslav Shurma stated earlier that the Office of the President of Ukraine is working on tax reform to eliminate corruption and ensure the equal conditions of doing business for all market participants.
