Gas turbines to help Ukraine decentralize power generating capacities – Minister Galushchenko
The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko during the Partnership for Transatlantic Energy and Climate Cooperation (P-TECC) forum in Zagreb, an Ukrinform correspondent reports, referring to the ministry’s press service.
“As of today [March 2, 2023 – Ed], we have surplus in the energy system. It gives us the feeling that we have really won this energy battle,” Galushchenko said, adding that Ukraine is already preparing for the future challenges, such as the next heating season.
In this regard, one of the most important short-term objectives is the decentralization of power generating capacities.
“We will do it as quickly as possible. Gas turbines and gas piston generation, as well as renewable energy sources, can play a key role here. We are already working on this issue in cooperation with our American partners,” Galushchenko told.
Additionally, the Ukrainian side is planning to develop renewable energy sources, i.e. solar power plants and wind farms, and modernize the power transmission system that had been damaged in Russian attacks, namely to improve its protection level amid the war-time challenges.
