PM Shmyhal, IDA leadership discuss projects for Ukraine restoration
The head of government spoke of the meeting on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
"The World Bank, in particular the International Development Association, has significantly helped Ukraine. In a conversation with the IDA leadership, I thanked them for the assistance provided within the framework of the PEACE in Ukraine project, which became the largest investment project in the history of the World Bank," Shmyhal noted.
According to the head of government, so far, PEACE in Ukraine has attracted credit and grant support amounting to US$12.9 billion and EUR 1.1 billion, which was allocated for the salaries of teachers, medics, rescuers, as well as for pensions and other social benefits. In particular, the Prime Minister explained that the International Development Association provided nearly a billion euros to cover teachers' salaries.
Shmyhal also thanked the IDA for its efforts in the implementation of the special program for Ukraine recovery and crisis response.
"We count on the Association’s further support and assistance in raising funds for the needs of the population and reconstruction," the head of government added.
As reported, in late February, the World Bank Group announced additional grant funding for Ukraine in the amount of $2.5 billion.
