During an online conversation, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Vice-President of the European Commission Maroš Šefčovič coordinated further steps towards the European integration and recovery of Ukraine’s energy sector.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“We are working to complete the full synchronization of the Ukrainian energy system with ENTSO-E in order to increase our import and export capabilities in terms of electricity. We also expect to join the EU’s 2030 Critical Raw Materials Act this year,” Shmyhal wrote.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine thanked the European Commission for allocating EUR 180 million to purchase solar panels for Ukraine.

“This will be an important contribution to energy stability and further green transformation of Ukraine under the Recovery Plan,” Shmyhal noted.

The parties also focused on sanctions against Russia’s Rosatom. Shmyhal emphasized that it was critically important to reduce the dependence of European countries on Russian nuclear fuel and to deprive Russia of excessive profits in the nuclear industry.
