Ukraine, Poland testing European gauge line between Lublin, Rava-Ruska
The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Infrastructure Ministry, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“The launch of the Warsaw - Lublin - Rava-Ruska - Lviv connection will meet the great demand of Ukrainians for convenient logistics by train to and from the Polish capital, as well as reduce congestion at road border crossing points. We are working to bring our countries even closer together,” Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration - Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov noted.
The re-opened Rava-Ruska railway crossing point had been out of service for over 20 years. Ukrzaliznytsia JSC has restored an 8.4-kilometer European gauge section and renovated the Rava-Ruska station.
As the test run ends, the Polish side will need several months to set up full customs and border control and complete formalities, after which the start date for regular traffic will be announced.
A reminder that the international credit rating agency, S&P Global Ratings, upgraded the rating of Ukrzaliznytsia JSC to ‘CCC+’.
