Netherlands allocates EUR 40M for Ukrainian farmers to buy seeds, equipment
The relevant statement was made by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, following a meeting between Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy Oleksandr Haidu and Members of Parliament of the Netherlands, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“Due to the Russian invasion, Ukraine has become one of the most mine-contaminated countries in the world. About a third of the country’s entire territory is potentially dangerous and requires examination. We would gladly receive demining assistance from the Netherlands to speed up this process. After all, this is one of the urgent problems of farmers, especially in the southern and eastern regions,” Haidu noted.
In the course of the meeting, Haidu mentioned that, currently, it is important to further expand new logistics routes from the EU, so that Ukrainian farmers can export agricultural products, especially as Russia continues to deliberately detain the vessels loaded with Ukrainian-produced grain in the Bosphorus Strait.
Haidu thanked the Netherlands for military and humanitarian aid, and coordinated efforts on the way towards Ukraine’s membership in the EU, and expressed confidence that cooperation between the two countries would be enhanced.
