Ukraine’s first biomethane production plant connected to gas network
This was announced by the head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, Viacheslav Chaus, Ukrinform reports.
"A biomethane production company operating in Chernihiv region was connected to the gas network. This is the first such case in Ukraine," Chaus wrote on Facebook.
According to the Regional Gas Company, Ukraine’s first biomethane plant in Ukraine will provide gas to nearly 1,500 household and industrial consumers.
"Today begins a new era of gas production in Ukraine. In this project, RGC acted as an investor: we consulted, developed design and technical documentation for connection, did technical specifications, and performed network connection works. We can scale this experience in any region of Ukraine. After all, Ukraine has a huge potential for biomethane production on par with the EU, where more than 1,200 plants with an annual capacity of 3.5 bcm operate," said RGC CEO Oleksiy Tiutiunnyk.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, a bridge across the Desna River was opened in Chernihiv region, which had been destroyed at the outset of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
