Zelensky calls on China to play effective role in resolving security issues around ZNPP
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized this during a phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Ukrinform reports citing the press service of the head of the Ukrainian state.
As noted, during the conversation, Zelensky called on China to play an effective role in resolving the security issue around the ZNPP.
"This will be in line with the spirit of the Budapest Memorandum," he stressed.
Zelensky noted that today Ukraine honors the memory of the victims of the Chornobyl accident, the largest industrial disaster in human history.
He said that the ongoing Russian occupation of the ZNPP and Russia's use of the plant as a cover for military strikes on Ukrainian cities and villages show that Moscow does not respect the fair interest of all people of the world to live in guaranteed safety from any nuclear or radiation threats.
On April 26, Zelensky reportedly had his first phone conversation with President Xi Jinping since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion.
