Ukraine gets $1.25B from U.S. through World Bank Trust Fund
That’s according to Ukraine’s Finance Ministry, Ukrinform reports.
The funding was provided as part of the “fourth additional financing for the Public Expenditures for Administrative Capacity Endurance (PEACE) in Ukraine.”
Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Ukraine has received about $16.7 billion in grants from the United States, the ministry notes.
"The partnership with the United States and the World Bank team during the war allows the Government of Ukraine to finance priority social expenditures in full. At the same time, the assistance in the form of grants does not increase the debt burden and contributes to the stabilization of the financial system," said Minister of Finance Sergii Marchenko.
“The funds from the United States will be used to provide pension payments, certain state social assistance programs (payments to IDPs), wages of healthcare workers and payments to the State Emergency Service,” the report reads.
Ukraine is implementing a joint project with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the International Development Association (IDA) entitled Public Expenditures for Administrative Capacity Endurance in Ukraine for a total of USD 16.5 billion and EUR 1.4 billion (IBRD loans, IDA loans, grants from the Multi-Donor Trust Fund).
