Russia has used more than 1,000 drones and missiles in 33 large-scale attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure since October 2022.

Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Energy Farid Safarov said this on national television, according to Ukrinform.

"Starting from October and during a further six months, the Ukrainian energy sector suffered a lot of damage. The terrorist nation carried out more than 33 massive attacks. More than 1,000 drones and missiles were launched at energy facilities, and 270 of them hit combined heat and power plants, thermal power plants, hydroelectric power plants and so on. Some 24 generation facilities, about half of the substations of the transmission system and 43% of the trunk networks were damaged. In most cases, they were hit several times," Safarov said.

According to him, at the end of the heating season, Ukraine's energy system temporarily lost 44% of nuclear generation, 78% of TPP capacity, 66% of HPP capacity, 75% of wind generation and about 20% of solar generation due to destruction.

Safarov noted that in the future, there could be temporary power outages due to seasonal phenomena in the energy sector and due to repair work that needs to be carried out and is usually done in the summer.

Earlier reports said that the total damage caused to Ukraine's energy system exceeds $1 billion.
