Restoration of Ukrainian agricultural sector: Ministry of Agrarian Policy hopes for cooperation with Utah state
This was discussed during the meeting of deputy ministers of agrarian policy and food of Ukraine Taras Vysotskyi and Markiyan Dmytrasevych with the delegation of the state of Utah, Ukrinform reports with reference to the Ministry’s press service.
The state of Utah was represented by President of the Utah State Senate Stuart Adams, employees of the agriculture department, and businessmen of the state.
The parties discussed areas of cooperation to restore the agricultural sector of Ukraine and attract cutting-edge American technologies, in particular, to restore soils and increase their fertility.
Vysotskyi said that the Ukrainian agricultural sector is ready to increase production and export products provided that the consequences of the war are overcome and the industry is restored, and it also has the potential for the development of the processing industry.
"This is the development of bioenergy. We can significantly increase biomethane production. We have considerable potential for increasing the production of meat and dairy products, development of horticulture, including berry processing," the deputy minister added.
Dmytrasevych noted that Ukraine seeks to attract private investments to its economy even before the end of the war and works towards introducing comprehensive military risk insurance for both foreign and domestic entrepreneurs.
"In this matter, we have reached progress with the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency MIGA which is part of the World Bank Group," he emphasized.
The meeting participants agreed to continue the dialogue to define areas of cooperation.
As reported, in June 2022, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the U.S. Department of Agriculture signed a memorandum of understanding on agriculture cooperation.
