Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Solskyi met Minister of Agriculture of Bulgaria Yavor Gechev in Sofia.

As the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine reports, the ministers discussed the issue of transit and export of Ukrainian agricultural products to/through the territory of Bulgaria in view of the implementation of the decision adopted by the European Commission to ban the export of certain types of Ukrainian agricultural products to five EU countries.

Bulgaria confirmed its readiness to import all agricultural products from Ukraine, except for the four crops mentioned in the decision of the European Commission, namely: sunflower, rapeseed, corn, and wheat.

As reported, on May 2, 2023, the European Commission officially announced the imposition of "exceptional and temporary" precautionary measures against imports from Ukraine which limit the deliveries of agricultural goods produced in Ukraine to Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia.

The restrictions will apply to four agricultural products: wheat, corn, rapeseed, and sunflower seeds originating in Ukraine and will remain in effect until June 5, 2023.
