Ukraine calls on Latvian business to join recovery efforts - Ministry of Economy
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy following the meeting of the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko with the delegation of Latvia led by the Minister of Economy Ilse Indriksone, Ukrinform saw.
"We already understand what economic model Ukraine's reconstruction will be based on. It was during the war that we realized what our main advantages are over other countries. That's why we will bet on them during reconstruction – digital technologies, green energy, the agricultural sector and the defense-industrial complex," said Svyrydenko.
The Ministry of Economy emphasizes that access to financing is an extremely important and urgent challenge for businesses today.
"We have government financial assistance, but it is clear that the largest reconstruction in Europe since the Second World War will take place mostly at the expense of private capital. Therefore, we invite Latvian businesses to Ukraine and suggest that the National Export Credit Agency consider the possibility of financing not only trade contracts, but also investment contracts," Svyrydenko suggested.
On behalf of the Government, she also invited Latvian businesses to take part in the international conference on the recovery of Ukraine, which will be held in London at the end of June.
Another area of cooperation between Ukraine and Latvia can be experience sharing in supporting small and medium-sized businesses. After all, this business showed the greatest adaptability during the war period.
Svyrydenko said that Ukraine would be interested in Latvia's experience in supporting small and medium-sized businesses. According to Ilse Indriksone, Latvian business is interested in new directions of cooperation in the field of information technologies and innovations.
As reported by Ukrinform, Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Oleh Nemchynov and Minister of Economy of the Republic of Latvia Ilse Indriksone discussed further cooperation, in particular Latvia's participation in the reconstruction of Ukraine.
