European Commission cancels ban on import of 12 groups of goods from Ukraine – Stefanishyna
"We believe that the European Commission listened to us on June 5, when the restrictions were extended, they were extended only for six types of products and canceled for the other 11 or 12 groups of products," Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna said, Ukrinform reports with reference to Suspilne.
She noted that the physical blockade on Poland–Ukraine border has been lifted and Ukraine will be able to transport products through Poland to other countries.
Stefanishyna added that a meeting of the coordination platform is expected in the coming week to resolve all issues related to the transit and export of Ukrainian products, as well as the cancellation of these bans and the issue of compensation for losses.
The Deputy PM emphasized that losses from the import ban amount to hundreds of millions of euros.
"This is already a long enough period of time, considering that the additional restrictions imposed until September cost hundreds of millions of euros that our companies have lost, the additional income that we have not received and, accordingly, the consequences that these illegal bans have caused," Stefanishyna said.
On June 5, the European Commission extended restrictions on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products until September 15, 2023. Restrictions will apply to the import of wheat, corn, rapeseed, and sunflower seeds from Ukraine.
