Environmental damage due to Russian shelling of military facilities in Ukraine stands at UAH 298B
That’s according to the Military Media Center citing an MoD Environmental Security and Mine Action Department official, Vladyslav Dudar, who spoke at a round table in Kyiv, Ukrinform reports.
According to the spokesman, the appropriate assessment, which takes into account the pollution of the territories and emissions, was run by a joint working group with the participation of experts from the ministries of defense and environment. The Military Prosecutor's Office and Security Service of Ukraine initiated the relevant criminal proceedings into all such facts.
"This year (2023 - ed.), we inspected about 40 objects, and the relevant calculations are currently being finalized by the State Inspectorate," added the MoD spokesman.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, on May 24, the deputy chief of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, Oleksandr Stavniychuk,, said the damage Russia inflicted on the subsoil, air, water, and land resources of Ukraine has already reached UAH 8 trillion.
