Water level in Zaporizhzhia NPP cooling pond is stable - Energoatom

The water level in the cooling pond at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant remains stable.

The National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom said this in a post on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

Despite the blowing up of Kakhovka HPP dam by the Russian occupiers, the situation remains stable and under control, the company assured.

As of 08:00 on July 5, the water level in the Zaporizhzhia NPP cooling pond has not changed. It is currently at 16.56 m.

The water level in the thermal power plant’s canal, from where the ZNPP pond is fed if necessary, is at the level of 11.15 m.

Energoatom noted that the water level in the canal has not dropped significantly recently, its indicators are no longer dependent on the Kakhovka Reservoir.

The company reminded that the ZNPP power units have not been operating since September 2022, so active evaporation of water from the cooling pond has not occurred since then.

As reported by Ukrinform, on March 4, 2022, the Russians seized the Zaporizhzhia NPP.

On June 22, 2023, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia was preparing an act of terrorism at the Zaporizhzhia NPP

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov said that Ukraine was getting ready for any scenario around the Zaporizhzhia NPP.

On June 30, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense reported that the Russian contingent is gradually leaving the territory of the ZNPP.

In late June, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipropetrovsk regions conducted large-scale training of emergency services to deal with the consequences of a possible terrorist attack at the ZNPP.

On July 4, the Ukrainian Armed Forces warned that Russian invaders could prepare a provocation at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
