Russian attacks cause damage to main power line in eastern Ukraine
The relevant statement was made by Ukrenergo National Power Company on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“Yesterday, one of the main power transmission lines providing the supply of electricity from a power plant in the east was damaged in Russian attacks. Repair works are underway,” the report states.
According to Ukrenergo, active maintenance works continue at many thermal and hydro power plants, as well as some nuclear power units. The power units that had been affected by Russian massive missile and drone attacks should be renovated before the next heating season starts.
Today, Ukraine is importing electricity from Slovakia (up to 160 megawatts between 08:00 a.m. and 09:00 a.m., and up to 350 megawatts during the peak consumption hours between 05:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.) and Moldova (up to 5 megawatts between 09:00 p.m. and 00:00 midnight). There are no electricity exports.
Due to the adverse weather conditions, power outages were introduced in the Vinnytsia, Volyn, Zakarpattia, Kirovohrad, Ivano-Frankivsk, Poltava, Rivne, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Chernivtsi and Chernihiv regions. Repair crews are working to restore power supply services.
A total of 411 settlements have been left without electricity due to hostilities and for other reasons. Repair works are carried out whenever the military and security situation allow.
