PM Shmyhal meets with G7, EU Ambassadors to discuss Ukraine’s reconstruction, reforms
The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“We count on further assistance with the implementation of fast recovery priorities, such as the reconstruction of housing, energy, critical and social infrastructure, humanitarian demining and business support,” Shmyhal wrote.
In the course of the meeting, the parties discussed the seizure of frozen Russian assets.
“In the Ukrainian Consequences Elimination Fund, we have UAH 62 billion, half of which are the confiscated Russian assets. We urge our partners to also endorse necessary decisions that will direct the Russian assets frozen in G7 countries to Ukraine’s reconstruction,” Shmyhal stressed.
Additionally, the meeting participants spoke of preparations for the heating season. The Prime Minister briefed foreign diplomats on the restoration and enhanced protection of Ukraine’s energy objects. Shmyhal thanked international partners for their significant assistance last winter but noted that the upcoming winter period would also be challenging, and Ukraine would also need support.
As for the Black Sea Grain Initiative, Shmyhal mentioned that, having terminated the grain deal, Russia put millions of people across the globe at risk of starvation.
“We expect solidarity from partners regarding the export of Ukrainian grain through the Western borders,” the Prime Minister added.
As for Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), Shmyhal said that the situation is remaining tense. He stressed the importance of putting further pressure on Russia to make it leave the plant and called for sanctions against Russia’s nuclear industry.
In addition, Shmyhal thanked international partners for their support of President Zelensky’s Peace Formula, as well as their readiness to continue providing assistance to Ukraine until its victory over the aggressor state.
