Ukraine to rely on air defense, experience of power engineers throughout winter - Danilov
That’s according to Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, who spoke with Ukrainian Radio, Ukrinform reports.
"The issue of the heating season is under control: at the next meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Staff, we will hear a report on this matter from the Prime Minister, Minister of Energy, Deputy Prime Minister Kubrakov, and all those who deal with the issue. This will be the anniversary meeting and it will take place in the near future," Danilov said.
The NSDC Secretary added that now the Ukrainian energy system is protected much better than it was in February 2022, and the country’s energy specialists already have experience in working in difficult conditions: "It is not an easy job because we have a large territory, and to protect everything with physical protective structures is extremely difficult. As for air defense, we are engaged in this issue from morning to night in order to maximize the number of capabilities for our air defense. We cannot claim now that we can protect everything, but nevertheless, things will be much better than they were last year."
According to the official, "the Russian Federation will certainly try to use this factor in order to torment us."
But Ukraine’s authorities are doing everything in their power to “minimize” this threat, Danilov stressed.
As reported, Ministers of Energy German Galushchenko and his U.S. counterpart Jennifer Granholm discussed the problems of preparing for the new heating season in Ukraine.
