Kyiv is interested in developing cooperation with Bucharest, in particular, in the field of natural gas transportation through the Trans-Balkan gas corridor.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine following an online meeting between Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko and Minister of Energy of Romania Sebastian Burduja.

It is noted that the Ukrainian minister congratulated the colleague on his appointment and expressed confidence in continuing productive cooperation between the energy ministries of the two countries and strengthening the energy security of the entire region.

In particular, he pointed out the interest of the Ukrainian side in the implementation of joint projects in the gas industry and electricity.

"Ukraine has the largest gas storage facilities in Europe and offers international partners to use the natural gas storage facilities on mutually beneficial terms. We state that European traders have already started pumping their gas into our facilities, the volumes already amount to about 600 million cubic meters," Galushchenko said.

He also emphasized Ukraine's interest in developing cooperation in the field of natural gas transportation through the Trans-Balkan gas corridor.

In addition, the parties discussed the implementation of agreements on the restoration of the interstate overhead line between the 750 kV substation "South Ukraine NPP" and the 400 kV substation "Isaccea".

This project, the Ministry emphasized, is of great importance for expanding the capacity of cross-border networks; it will increase the reliability of electricity supply to consumers in the southern regions of Ukraine and remove restrictions on the generation capacity from renewable energy sources in these territories.

Galushchenko thanked Romania for supporting the energy sector of Ukraine and spoke about the needs of the energy sector, the necessary materials and equipment, the reserve of which will help Ukraine get through the next heating season.
