The Government of Norway is allocating NOK 1.5 billion via the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to ensure the import of natural gas and electricity to Ukraine.

The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Energy Ministry, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The funds will be directed to critical energy infrastructure repairs and technical maintenance, and emergency power supply in the regions affected by hostilities, as well as natural gas purchases for emergency storage purposes,” the report states.

According to the ministry, this was announced by Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gahr Støre during his visit to one of Ukrainian energy facilities, which had been affected by repeated Russian attacks.

In the course of the meeting, Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko noted that Ukraine would be interested in Norway’s experience regarding the development of hydropower generation, namely the expert assessment of the situation at Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) by Norwegian experts. The parties also discussed cooperation in the development of offshore wind energy generation.
